Check Oconto Court Calendar

For an Oconto County court calendar, go to the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access case summary and open the Court Activities section; the Clerk of Circuit Court is the office that holds the record behind it. A listed entry can give a date, time, event type, branch, judge, or location for a Circuit Court matter in Oconto County. Remember that a calendar line is only a plan. It does not tell you what happened. Municipal courts in Oconto, Oconto Falls, Gillett, Lena, and Suring run their own schedules, so follow the court named on your notice or citation. After you search the Oconto County court calendar, confirm the current setting with the clerk before you show up.

The Oconto County Court Calendar

There is no single printed daily list covering every court in the county. Official guidance points circuit-court users elsewhere instead. The Court Activities area inside the statewide WCCA case summary is the place to look. Pull up the public case and pick the matching Oconto County result. Then read each field as shown: date, time, event type, branch, judge, location, and status. WCCA is a statewide snapshot. Check the date again close to the event.

Oconto County Circuit Court sits in Branch I and Branch II at 301 Washington Street. Knowing the branch helps you tell settings apart. It does not give you a room number or a remote link you can rely on. The county posts no general printed calendar or public kiosk. It also offers no universal remote-hearing page. When WCCA and your notice disagree, ask the Clerk of Circuit Court which one stands.

Oconto Court Activities in WCCA

The Oconto County Clerk page walks searchers through it: enter a first and last name, choose Oconto in the County field, and scroll down to Court Activities. A case number works better than a name. Names can match more than one person. Before you treat a result as your own, compare the case type, filing year, party role, status, branch, and next event.

Initial appearance The first scheduled court event. For county traffic matters, the citation date plays this role.

Pretrial conference A setting set after a disputed traffic plea. In other cases it comes as the court orders.

Motion hearing A setting for a request placed before the court.

Status or review A check on progress or compliance, not necessarily a trial.

Trial or sentencing Two different settings; the exact live labels and their instructions control.

A short label is only a short label. Do not read a procedure into it without confirmation. The notice, the current docket entry, and the clerk tell you what attendance actually requires.

How to Find Your Court Date

Begin with the court name printed on your citation, notice, or case paper. Oconto County Circuit Court settings show up in WCCA. A routine municipal citation stays with the city, village, or joint municipal court named on it, and that schedule may not appear there. Federal and appellate matters run through separate court systems.

  1. Open WCCA and select Oconto County.
  2. Search by case number when known, or use permitted name fields and confirm the match.
  3. Open Court Activities and record the date, time, event label, branch, judge, and location.
  4. Compare the entry with the newest notice, order, citation, or attorney information.
  5. Call the Oconto County Clerk at 920-834-6859 or visit Building C, first floor, when a circuit date is unclear.
  6. For a municipal case, contact the municipal clerk named on the citation rather than the county clerk.

The county posts no daily printed calendar and provides no dedicated public terminal. Ask the clerk before counting on either. If you have a lawyer, confirm the setting and how to appear with that attorney.

Oconto Traffic Dates Follow the Citation

Oconto County's Traffic and Forfeitures page is direct: the citation date is the initial appearance. An "Appearance Required" mark means you must attend. If appearance is not required and you do not dispute the citation, county instructions may let you resolve it with a no-contest option without appearing. The citation and the court's current directions control; a general statement about the calendar never cancels an appearance requirement.

Want to fight a county circuit citation? You can file a written not-guilty plea before the initial appearance by mail, fax, or in person. The county requires the citation or case number, the scheduled date, your printed name and signature, a current mailing address, and a telephone number. Once that plea lands, a pretrial conference gets scheduled. No testimony happens at the initial appearance. If nothing settles, a trial may follow.

Reading a Court Setting

Read a calendar row as a set of fields, not just a date. Two Oconto County matters can fall on the same day. Same day, different settings. They may still differ in branch, event type, time, or instructions. Check every field together. Plan your day only after the whole line makes sense.

DateThe scheduled day shown in the current Court Activity, citation, or notice.
TimeThe stated start time; do not substitute general office hours.
Courtroom or LocationThe location in the live notice or entry; Building C is the clerk counter, not a universal courtroom.
Judge or BranchBranch I, Branch II, or the named municipal court assignment.
Setting TypeInitial appearance, pretrial, motion, status, review, trial, sentencing, family hearing, or another live label.
Status or InstructionsRescheduled indicators, appearance requirements, or court-specific directions.

A setting on the calendar proves nothing occurred. For a result, look for a later register entry or order.

Oconto Municipal Calendar Is Separate

Oconto Municipal Court sits at City Hall, 1210 Main Street. Adult sessions are generally held the first Thursday of each month at 4:30 p.m., it states. Its official page also lists individual 2026 dates. The recurring language and the date list can point different ways. Trust the listed date tied to your citation. Then call the municipal court at 920-834-7718.

The municipal payment portal is not a docket or calendar. A City of Oconto citation does not move to the Oconto County clerk. Both courts share a city, but the label on the issuing court decides the route. Skipping a municipal court appearance can trigger a default. Other consequences may follow, as described in that court's current instructions.

Address check: Oconto County Circuit Court is at 301 Washington Street. Oconto Municipal Court is at 1210 Main Street. Confirm which court issued the notice before traveling.

Gillett and Lena Court Schedule Patterns

Two local municipal courts share scheduling duties with Oconto County Circuit Court. The Gillett Joint Municipal Court covers the City of Gillett and several participating towns. Good Cause hearings land on the first Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Initial Appearances follow at 3:00 p.m. Trials get set on their own dates. Your ticket still controls the day. Call the joint clerk at 920-855-2255 instead of hunting for that citation in the Oconto County circuit calendar.

Lena runs court on the second Monday at 4:00 p.m. Quarterly trials fall in March, June, September, and December at 4:15 p.m. Lena is a village rather than one of the county's three incorporated cities. A citation issued there belongs to that municipal calendar all the same. Suring also reports municipal activity. The village posts no complete current local schedule. Confirm dates with the responsible official source instead of trusting a third-party directory.

Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations

Court dates shift. An order, a continuance, a judge's calendar, an emergency closure, or something specific to the case can move a setting. A cached search result or an old notice may lag behind the change. The Oconto County homepage posts broad closure notices worth watching. It is no substitute for a case calendar, though. The case summary itself and the clerk remain the direct sources.

When an event vanishes, dismissal is the wrong assumption. Read the later register entries and disposition fields. Refresh WCCA. Then call the right clerk: 920-834-6859 for circuit court, or the clerk printed on the citation for a municipal case. Represented parties should go through counsel. Never make the drive based on office hours, a recurring municipal pattern, or a payment-provider screen alone.

A reset changes the schedule, not necessarily the merits or status of the underlying Oconto County case.

Oconto Calendar Privacy and Access

A public Oconto County calendar can expose names and sensitive context. Think before you share one. Do not republish a calendar page containing private parties, minor identities, protected addresses, or confidential family and juvenile details. Wisconsin redaction rules, including Wis. Stat. section 938.396, make juvenile records a different animal. They are not an ordinary public case summary. A sealed case or protected event may be missing from the docket or partly masked. That is by design.

Need an interpreter, language help, or a disability accommodation? Contact court staff before the hearing. Oconto County maintains a Language Access Plan with a formal request and complaint process. That plan does not guarantee every municipal court follows the same steps. So confirm accommodations with the local court directly. Recording, photography, security, and remote-appearance rules also vary. The county does not publish one uniform policy, so ask before you attend.

The county's official traffic page shows how the clerk's online case lookup separates an initial appearance from later pretrial activity.

Oconto County Traffic and Forfeitures initial-appearance workflow

That county process applies to the cited circuit matter alone; it does not replace a municipal court's own schedule.

What To Do If You Miss a Setting

Act promptly and contact the court that set the event. For Oconto County Circuit Court, call the Clerk of Circuit Court with the case number, the missed date, the case type, and the branch if known. WCCA may show later activity or an order. But do not wait for the public summary to update before reaching out. Represented? Contact counsel at once.

Missed a setting? A missed date can lead to default, a warrant, bond consequences, judgment, or other court action depending on the case.

Do not assume that paying online, leaving a message, or finding no new WCCA entry excuses the missed appearance.

Ask the responsible clerk or attorney about the current status and the proper way to address the missed event.

A missed county traffic initial appearance has procedures and possible defaults explained on the county traffic page. A municipal matter follows that municipal court's instructions instead. The calendar itself cannot grant a continuance or put a case back on the schedule.
